What are your views on twilight? Lots of people here seem to have strong views of twilight, so maybe we should hear them. Please remember though, you can criticize (but not abuse) the book or the author but not any member. Everyone has a right to their own opinion.
In my opinion, twilight was quite readable, until Breaking Dawn. I did not ever find it high-class fiction in any way, or find it the next harry potter. I did not find the writing immaculate or the characters extremely well-sketched, but as a light read it was fine, and I passed my time reading these books. In a way they did have that un-put-downable quality, at least in the sense of books one reads to spend time rather than to get some high literary knowledge. When you're tired of high-brow books with too much meaning, Twilight was a refresher.
(Spoilers below)
Then Breaking Dawn comes around and everything ends up to be so PERFECT that I could have killed that book. Every little thing ends up perfect. And I especially hated Renesmee and the Jacob stuff. I didn't like how everything just fizzled out into a happily ever after. That was my problem with the whole series. She expected me to believe that Bella, after everything, went from happy to getting her happily ever after. And it was silly. I now also hate Bella.
Ok, so even after the disaster of Breaking Dawn I read the Midnight Sun spoiler. It wasn't bad. But these are just not the kind of books that I would ever like to invest in on read again. I'm not a cynic but when an author packages up something so neatly you can tell it's a case of canon-mary-sue. And I hate it.
Sorry to any Twilight fans I may have offended. But you can be sure that I looked at both sides of this story and actually READ all of these books before commenting. If you want toargue sorry, have a creative discussion, please do so with points to be made. I'm willing to listen.
