Name: Nathaniel Naparte
Age: 45
Race: Human
Profession: Historical Researcher (archaeologist)
Alignment: Arysian
Appearance: Tall as far as humans go, Nathaniel is not unattractive, with grey eyes, a stocky build and a functionary smile. He has a wheatish complexion and brown hair that seems to be many different shades, and is slightly normal than usual. Age has shown itself there in the white strands that line his hair and the wrinkles on his soft skin. He remains quite fit even in his age and is quite strong and flexible if not particularly fast due to his failing knees.
The man's calm countenance fails to depict the intense force of his personality and the scars of his past. You can see some of them on his body - a scar where he fell on a candle while performing his first spell, another by a knife on that horrid night when his wife was killed, and the one more around in his wrist made by his best and worst student. On his other wrist, the right one, you can see a red pentacle which has been inked in by blood, sweat and magic. Slightly hunched, and with his eyesight fading for near vision, he still remains dynamic and strong. His voice is the only thing that depicts this spit-fire personality, it is strong and dominating. He speaks slowly with contemplation.
Personality: He's been described as a hard man by many, most of all those who know him from more than his soft manner. He's hard, and just, and firm, unbending and unrelenting. His focus is unparalleled, he cannot be distracted easily. A man with a fierce, but not violent temper, he will resolutely follow what he believes to be the path of justice. A man of learning, there was nothing he liked better than finding out old secrets from dusty books and old monuments. It was there that he started growing interested in the story of Mortia, in his affairs with the past.
Always calm from the outside, but filled with anger from the inside, Nathaniel finds it hard to get close to anyone, to share his emotions with people. A teacher by vocation, he likes to transfer knowledge but is too quick with criticism, and too sparse with praise, and he fails to motivate students to have any great love for him. Polite and calm, he has always been a figure to respect, and rebel against, never to love, except by the one person who truly saw the depth of his personality.
Dynamic, and in many ways ingenious and intelligent, Nathaniel is inquisitive and creative.
Weapons/Magic: He is a strong sorcerer.
History: Born some forty odd years ago in a small town in the center of arysia, he was man of learning from the beginning. When his sorcery started to develop, sometime during his tenth year, he was apprenticed to an old scholar called Herm, who was an excellent teacher and whetted his appetite for study. It was not many years before he had learned all Herm could teach him, but he stayed with Herm for a long time after, encouraged by his master to study on his own.
His main cause for staying was quite simple - love. He had lost his heart to beautiful Adrienne, Herm's daughter, three years younger than him. Fairly sure that shy Adrienne returned his feelings, he had married her at the age of twenty-five. The marriage was happy, with the occasional squabble and row but a lot of love. He thought that his life was perfect - till they came. They were a group of boys in the village, untaught sorcerers, jealous of his skill and enraged by his flaunting of it. They entered his house by night, to take revenge. Together, they were able to overpower the sorcerer, and kill his wife and unborn child. Something snapped inside him then, and he broke free - exacting revenge on the youths. He started feeling he had nothing left living for.
Then, many years later, he took on a young apprentice. He was ungrateful, cock-sure, very confident and rather arrogant, but he was talented and interested. And Nathaniel taught him everything he knew, especially about Mortia. It was his biggest mistake. Some power tempted the young boy, and he broke into Mortia's tomb and unleashed a great evil on the world. Coursed with guilt and having lost someone whom he considered almost a son, Nathaniel started searching for Mortia and her minions, with only one thing on his mind - revenge.
